COARE Fundraiser Celebrating World Ocean Day

The concept for World Ocean Day was first proposed in 1992 at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, and has been celebrated unofficially every year since.
Three years ago, COARE teamed up with a few other Bay Area organizations to create a series of local events to celebrate World Ocean Day, and we're thrilled to continue that tradition.
This past December, the United Nations made it official, and June 8th is now officially known as World Oceans Day.
Join us for our third year and for the inaugural celebration of the newest holiday recognizing the oceans that cover nearly 3/4 of our planet.
Come celebrate the oceans, sharks, and our Shark Safe℠; efforts. We'll be at Periscope Cellars in Emeryville on Saturday, June 6th from 6-9pm, and we invite you to join us in enjoying a special selection of wines from two wineries, delicious light finger foods from Green Leaf Platters, awesome live music by the local band Nine Wives, and a special screening of the award winning film Sharkwater.
In addition to great food, wine, and entertainment, you'll also have the chance to participate in our raffle and silent auction for thousands of dollars of gifts and prizes. (see list below)
Note: Since admission includes free wine tasting and a glass of your choice, we regret that all partygoers must be at least 21 years of age.
This event is sponsored, in part, by Periscope Cellars, Urbano Cellars, Green Leaf Platters, and Whole Foods. Proceeds from this event will benefit COARE (The Center for Oceanic Awareness, Research, and Education), a Bay Area based nonprofit organization dedicated to raising public awareness of the plight of the oceans.
COARE is a tax-exempt nonprofit organization as described in sections 170(b)(1)(A)(vi) and 501(c)(3) of the US Internal Revenue Code, and is registered as a public charity with the California Attorney General.
