** Slow Food members receive a reduced rate of $175 per ticket, $250 per couple. General public price is $250 per ticket, $350 per couple. "Reception and silent auction ONLY" price is $45**

On September 25, 2006, Slow Food USA will hold its first Sustainable Seafood Gala at Agraria Restaurant in Washington, DC, to highlight the importance of responsible fishing practices, sustainable food systems and ocean conservation. Agraria is located in Georgetown's historic Washington Harbour and is the first farmer-owned fine dining restaurant of its kind.  Six of DC's most renowned chefs will prepare a sumptuous, five-course, seated dinner, celebrating the delicious products of sustainable fisheries across the Eastern seaboard. Organized by Chef Barton Seaver of Cafe St. Ex and Bar Pilar, the menu will feature East Coast seafood favorites such as oysters, mussels, clams, haddock and blue crab. All of the event chefs are dedicated advocates of sustainable food systems who actively promote the use of eco-friendly ingredients within the culinary industry.  Participating chefs include Chef Cathal Armstrong (Restaurant Eve), Chef Todd Gray (Equinox), Chef Robert Wiedmaier (Marcel's), Chef Ricky Moore and Pastry Chef Robert Underwood (Agraria Restaurant).

We are thrilled to announce that Philippe Cousteau, grandson of Jacques Cousteau and founder of EarthEcho International (www.earthecho.org), will be our guest speaker for the evening.

The gala will feature delicious cocktails and hors d'oeuvres preceding dinner, during which guests will have the opportunity to interact with Slow Food representatives, environmental organizations and global trade organizations such as the Seafood Choices Alliance. Representatives from these organizations will be available to share information on ocean conservation, sustainable fishing practices, and environmentally responsible seafood sources.  Ticket price includes hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, a five-course dinner and wine pairings.  Ticket price for the general public is $250 per ticket and $350 per couple. Slow Food member ticket price is $175 per ticket and $250 per couple. To become a Slow Food member or to renew your membership, please visit www.slowfoodusa.org.  Memberships and renewals will be available for purchase on site. Dress code: business/ business casual.
