A Feast of Music with Bryan Baker and Friends
Unitarian Universalist Church of Berkeley Kensington, CA
A feast of music, featuring four keyboards and stories told in music. Music both famous and rare. You can hear David and Goliath do battle, as turned into harpsichord music by Kuhnau, one of JS Bach's great contemporaries. Leander struggles against the waves to reach his beloved Hero in Robert Schumann impassioned In der Nacht. Mozart's brilliance and poise in one of his most extroverted Sonatas, celebrating this 250th anniversary of his birth. The luminous beauty of a Nocturne by Chopin. Rod Lowe's rich tenor voice in music by Handel and Purcell. Deborah Schmidt's gorgeous flute playing with guest cellist Poppea Dorsam in Maritnus Trio for Flute, Cello and Piano, one of chamber musicâs most joyous pieces. Guest pianist Inara Morgenstern joins Bryan for a rollicking,Brazilian-inspired favorite for 2 pianos: Milhaud's Scaramouche. Enjoy the reception afterwards.
