Gamelan X
Capitol Hill Arts Center Seattle, WA
Gamelan X is a fifteen-person world music ensemble that presents all-original, high-energy music for parades, concerts, and dance events. Drawing inspiration from Indonesian, Balkan, African, Indian, and American traditions, Gamelan X has a sound that is truly unique. Interlocking rhythms, sinewy melodies, and engaging group choreography are woven into a groove-tapestry that is dynamic, entrancing, and deeply visceral. Instruments used include dozens of small and large gongs, various winds and strings (including trumpet, trombone, clarinet, violin, and flute), synthesizers, drum set, and percussion from across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.
Note: $20 Advance. Sliding scale @ the door, $10-$20, based on individual need.
