Ballet Confessions
"After being a professional ballet dancer and recently interviewing other dancers, I knew our story needed to be told. In the last two years, I've been developing the choreography, sound design, and an art installation as an artistic expression of their 'confessions.' These dancers who dedicated their lives to the craft of ballet had very different experiences than those depicted in popular media and culture. Ballet Confessions challenges the stereotypes and is an honest portrayal of the professional ballet world."
Ballet Confessions is a full length dance, music, and art installation piece created and performed by Mary Ellen Beaudreau. The performance's costume is created in collaboration with fashion designer Jenny Lai. Additional costume/set pieces are designed by Mary Ellen Beaudreau in collaboration with Bernard Beaudreau.
Show run time is about 40 minutes, with a reception to follow the show.
