Drop-In Book Group - POETRY 101
We've heard for ages how wonderful and enlightening poetry can be, but for those who haven't been properly introduced to it poetry can be a scary thing! This drop-in group will change all that. Join Literary Affairs' own Jessica Piazza (published poet and Literary Affairs facilitator) for a drop-in book group especially for poetry beginners and readers who want to understand the joys of poetry without any of the fear inspired by high-school English classes.
With your ticket purchase you'll receive a packet of poems hand-picked by Jessica. These mostly contemporary poems will move you, not confuse you, and--just like in our fabulous fiction book clubs--we'll discuss everything from the poems' emotional effects to techniques the writers use to engage and amaze you.
We at Literary Affairs have one goal: that you will leave this drop-in group with a new, fearless perspective on the possibilities and joys of poetry.
PLEASE NOTE - PARKING IS NOT INCLUDED. We encourage those attending to carpool and/or look for street parking. Valet parking at the Bel Air is an additional $14.
