Tea Steeping 102: How to portion different teas for the best flavor
Teance is located in Berkeley, CA just east of San Francisco, home of some of the most leading gourmet food and beverage products in the world. The mission of Teance is to promote authentic fine teas and re-introduce the culture surrounding its appreciation. By providing the most pure, premium, seasonal whole leaf teas possible, we hope to introduce to the consumer the enjoyment, health benefits, and the serenity that comes with drinking tea.
Most traditional black teas are small particles that call for a standard size teaspoon to a large Victorian teapot to steep in. What to do with pearl size oolongs, large leaf greens the size of a spoon handle, and fine snail like curls of tender greens? What is the right proportion to steep tea for your particular teapot? Bring your favorite teapot or gaiwan to class and learn to steep the perfect cup of tea, from green to oolong teas.
