San Francisco Rocks Walking Tour
On April 18, 1906, the San Andreas shook our city down. Thousands were left homeless, city hall was left in rubble, and fires raged. The quake was a disaster socially, but from a science perspective, it was a magical moment. Join this special tour and find out what geologists learned from the '06 quake that gave birth to the science of seismology.
As on our usual tour, we'll also explore the unique qualities that have shaped San Francisco's distinctive terrain, while munching through edible seismic activities and getting up close and personal with the local geology. We'll visit stellar rock formations that draw geologists from around the world, and you'll gain a new appreciation for the city's legendary landscape.
