Description
Chicago Fair Trade's annual fundraising event GlobalFest will take place on Thursday, May 14th, 2009 at Zapatista Cantina. GlobalFest will feature Chicagos Fair Trade connections to Latin America. In addition to Latin American food, beverages and music, two Fair Trade artisans from Peru will share their stories during a brief program that will also feature the presentation of Chicago Fair Trades first Changemaker Award.

Chicago Fair Trade is Chicagos only coalition of businesses, non-profit organizations, faith based groups, educational institutions, and individuals who have come together as advocates for Fair Trade. With over fifty-five member organizations and over 150 individual members, Chicago Fair Trade increases awareness of and support for fair trade in the Chicago metro area through education, advocacy and consumer campaigns.
Fair Trade, a market based system that guarantees producers a living wage and uses environmentally sound practices, is responsible for stabilizing communities around the world. Through its members, Chicago Fair Trade has a positive impact on over a million Fair Trade producers worldwide, and this number increases every year. We invite you to join us in celebrating the growth of the fair trade movement in Chicago, and our connections to Latin American producers, by becoming a sponsor for our GlobalFest 2009 event.
Your support for this event will help Chicago Fair Trade increase support for Fair Trade in the metro area, ensuring that producers in developing countries earn a fair wage and affect positive change in their communities.
