On Saturday, May 2nd, starting at 1pm, Seattle Inner City Outings will lead Search Party 2009 a witty competition of strategy and fitness exploring the hidden secrets of Seattle's South Lake Union. Beginning at Denny Park, prepared with a search map and clue book, participants will puzzle, roam, perform, race, and ponder throughout South Lake Unions landmarks, businesses, and novelty locations on foot. All proceeds from the event benefit Seattle Inner City Outings (ICO), an all-volunteer community youth program of the Sierra Club. ICO is dedicated to providing opportunities for urban youth and adults to explore, enjoy, and learn about the natural world.

Not familiar with Seattle Inner City Outings? We are an all-volunteer led program of the Sierra Club dedicated to a 17-year tradition of taking local city kids from diverse backgrounds and typically low-income neighborhoods on enriching and memorable outdoor experiences. The Search Party is central to our efforts to raise funds for trips, raise visibility of the program, and recruit for new leaders! Funds raised cover the costs of outdoor gear to lend to the kids, rental vans, and food for lunches and active-kid snacks. Additional information can be found at: http://ico.sierraclub.org/seattle/

Note: Rain or shine, Search Party 2009 will be your most energetic, challenging, and goofy Seattle race of the year, all benefiting Seattle inner city kids and their introduction to the great outdoors. Your registration includes your 2-4 person team, entry to the Lost & Found Party and entertainment, and post-race food and beverages. Please, no dogs. Kids are welcome to take part on teams.
