Event
Artrageous Verdigris
Tacoma School of the Arts (SOTA) is a public high school located in downtown Tacoma. Students attend classes in a variety of buildings throughout the community. SOTA students take ownership of their education through an arts-integrated curriculum. One program unique to SOTA, that gives students a special opportunity to study with professional, working artists is the Adjunct Artist Program. Students educated at SOTA are provided with instruction and skills to develop a personal style, individual voice and a portfolio for college and post high school plans.
The SOTA Partners, a non-profit organization, hosts an annual event to raise money to support the Adjunct Artist Program. The Tacoma School of the Arts continues to build and expand its Adjunct Artist Program year after year. The program provides an opportunity for students to work with professionals, learning their art, watching their technique, understanding the foundation of the subject and making connections with others in the community. Professionals provide instruction to students and are a part of the daily school schedule. The sole purpose of ARTRAGEOUS is to raise awareness, support, and funding for the Adjunct Artist Program. This unique model of arts instruction would not and could not exist without private dollars. We are plannin an exciting evening of cocktails, dinner, auctions, and celebrity entertainment at the Sharon M. McGavick Center on April 18, 2009 hosted by John Curley of King 5's Evening Magazine.
