Perfect Peonies: Growing and Managing the Historic Collection at Locust Grove, HVGA Winter Lecture Series
This class will explore local garden history as well as share practical information about growing perfect peonies. Susan MacAvery, Locust Grove horticulturist, will lead us on a journey through the past to examine garden records left by the Young family documenting their expansive collection of peonies. Discover how the plants from this historic collection have survived and been cared for through division and replanting. Susan will discuss the challenges of classifying and maintaining the collection, as well as the "how-to's" of growing peonies that work for the estate and home gardener alike.
