The Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival
BFIT: Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology Boston, MA
"e" inc. is proud to be the Boston host of The Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival -- the largest environmental film festival in the United States -- debuting on April 25th at The Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology Theater. Created eight years ago by a small group of riverkeepers in California, in conjunction with the Patagonia Company, The Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival was designed to inspire citizen participation in environmental issues.
By bringing a mix of films from filmmakers all around the country, The Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival gathers important ideas and voices. Here, there are films about activism and inspiration, about the challenges facing wildlife, and about the people standing up to those challenges. The Film Festival sits apart by leaving you feeling engaged and motivated to go out and make a difference in your community and the world.
At Wild & Scenic, we will show environmental and adventure films that illustrate the Earth's beauty, the predicaments currently facing our planet, and the work communities are doing to protect it. Take, for example, the Oregon street program that involves neighbors in painting a huge canvas onto a busy intersection that is then festooned with art and used as a meeting place. Perhaps the story of the free bicycle system in Paris can inspire you to envision new possibilities for your street or neighborhood. Or perhaps the documentary of legal battles in Ecuador to undo years of water-defiling oil run-off will lead you to consider a new role for yourself.
The "e" inc.- hosted Wild and Scenic Environmental Festival will take viewers across the globe as we see pristine coral reefs, mountain top coal mining, and activism by five young people preserving habitats around the globe. In this, Boston's inaugural year, we will celebrate with a supper intermission, hands-on projects, wonderful desserts and wines, and an evening spent with involved and concerned citizens like yourself.
Welcome to an evening of delightful films, convivial company, delicious foods, and a chance to engage and enjoy. For more information visit: www.e-action.us or call 617-227-1522.
Note: Recommended age for attendees bringing family members is 12 years.
In order to GREEN this event we are having a Swap Shop Table. Bring something you no longer need/want that is in good working order and take home some other "find."
Recycle, Recycle, Recycle.
We also encourage you to bring your own coffee mug/holder for all the wine, soda, water, and coffee we will serve at the festival. This will lower our garbage load by quite a lot. Reuse, reuse, reuse!
