Danny Whitson Presents Comedy At The Grove
On Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 8:00 pm, come see a 90 minute comedy show featuring some of the best local and touring comedians around at the Historic Grove Theater located in Oak Ridge, TN. The show will include five funny comics and one funny host throughout the evening. You must be 18 to enter and 21 years old to drink. A cash bar will be available before showtime and during intermission. Tickets must be purchased prior to show date. Hosting the event will be Comedian/Magician Danny Whitson. He is a regular host for Side Splitters Comedy Club in Knoxville, TN. You may have seen him perform at festivals, clubs, bars, and other several special events throughout the East Coast. The headliner for the night Kristine Kinsey is domestically challenged, romantically depraved, & maternally inept. She manages to find humor in her incompetence and has brought her twisted observations to comedy clubs across the Southeast. She has also performed in The World Series of Comedy and the North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival.
Kristine has been seen on the stand-up showcase 'NickMom Night Out' on the NickMom channel, and had a small speaking part on an episode in Season 7 of Last Comic Standing. She is a regular weekend deejay on 105.3 FM in Knoxville, a college student, a massage therapist, a mom, and an unrepentant smart-ass. Apologies in advance.
The show will also feature comedian Tyler Sonnichsen. Tyler began comedy at an early age, then began something resembling actual comedy at a slightly older age as a member of the Western-MA based TDC crew. He joined the Penguins Without Pants sketch comedy troupe in Syracuse, NY in 2001, writing, acting, and producing shows of various sizes through 2005, when he moved to Washington, DC and stumbled upon an open mic in the suburbs of Washington, DC.
Since then, he has performed stand-up in places as far and wide as Baltimore, Boston, London, Orlando, New Orleans, Chicago, Los Angeles, Oakland, Columbus, New Haven, and more. He lived and loved DC comedy for years, founding the smash hit Laughing Lizard Comedy Showcase (2006 2008), and then founded the Hot Broth Comedy Open Mic Thursdays at the Comedy Spot (2009 still running somehow!!), leaving behind some kind of legacy. He then spent two years based in Long Beach, CA, performing at the likes of the Hollywood Improv, the Brea Improv, LeStat's (San Diego's top alt room) and more.
He's highly enjoyable to watch, really. You don't have to know who Night Ranger is to find him funny, but it doesn't hurt. He currently lives in Knoxville, TN.
The show will get kick into gear with three very funny guys. Derik Zooashkiyani Voted "Best Comedian I've ever seen" by his grandma, Derik Zoo has been doing comedy for 3 years. He's worked with such comedy legends as Bobcat Goldthwait, Carlos Mencia, Hannibal Buress, and Jim Bruer. You can see Derik on the ABC Drama Nashville from time to time (but look carefully because he's not on screen a lot). Derik currently lives in Chattanooga, TN.
Nate Cate, the winner of Opportunity Knox has traveled from Tennessee to Tampa. Giving his unique 'spin' on his own life, as well as his perspective on the world.
Waylon Whiskey a Knoxville Native has been roaming the bars of East Tennessee for 3 years. He helped found the Black Liver Society a group of comics that like to glorify the very southern tradition of drinking until all that is left is the truth and of course it's the truth 'cause you can't remember it.
