Coming Alongside: Inviting the Whole Child
The greatest gift we can give our children is to make sure they know that they are welcomed and invited into our presence, into our lives, into our hearts. Some aspects of our children are easy to invite - the ready smile, the charming giggle, the desires to help and to please. Other aspects of our children are more difficult to make room for - the eye rolls, the grumpy moods, the heart-broken grief, the frustration, and the temper tantrums. What does it mean to invite and welcome all of what our children hold within? How can we stretch past our own alarm and offer a home to all of their emotions, instincts and thoughts? Pamela will give an overview of the role of emotion in maturation, and of our part in creating an environment that fosters emotional health and growth, while tackling the challenging heart of attachment - inviting our children to exist in our presence as they are.
Our intention is for us to be as focused on the material as possible, and for this reason this is an adults-only event. Babes in arms are always welcome, of course.
Registration begins at 8:30am. Presentation begins promptly at 9am. Please allow enough time to park, register, and settle in to avoid disappointment.
The presentation will take place in the Library Building at North Seattle Community College, in the room across from the concert hall. A map of campus can be found here: https://northseattle.edu/print-campus-map If you go north on Meridian Avenue North into the campus, we will have signage directing you to the location. Those attending the presentation may park on campus for free.
