Boston Brass combines classical and jazz music for a unique performance that treats audiences to a distinctive musical experience. The quintet performs more than 100 times annually, in concerts and jazz festivals, and have conducted master classes and residencies at prestigious music schools such as Eastman School of Music; Shepherd School of Music, Rice University; Peabody Conservatory of Music, University of North Texas; and the Royal Academy of Music in London. Boston Brass has appeared on shows such as the CBS Early Show, National Public Radio's "Performance Today" and at the Great American Brass Band Festival. They have also recorded several albums on the Summit Records label.
Boston Brass members include Chris Castellanos (Las Vegas) on horn, a former member and soloist with the Las Vegas Philharmonic and a hornist for the Nevada Chamber Orchestra and the Las Vegas Jazz Connection. He has backed many headliners on the Vegas Strip, including Frank Sinatra Jr., Tony Bennett, Placido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti, Mannheim Steamroller, Josh Groban, Michael Bublé and Johnny Mathis.
Jeff Conner (Boston) on trumpet is the only original member of the Boston Brass. He founded the group with some fellow Boston musicians while a student at Boston University. He has performed as a soloist with the Boston College Symphony and the Salem Philharmonic as well as with the Music at Gretna Summer Festival, New England Philharmonic, Nashua Symphony, Harvard-Radcliffe Chamber Orchestra and Empire Brass Seminar at Tanglewood.
Lance LaDuke (Pittsburgh) on trombone and euphonium is internationally known as a soloist, writer, adjudicator and clinician. He also teaches at Duquesne and Carnegie Mellon universities in Pittsburgh. Previously, LaDuke was principal solo euphonium with the River City Brass Band, the only fulltime professional brass band in the country. As a member of the U.S. Air Force Band in Washington D.C., he performed for presidents, dignitaries and heads of state and in hundreds of protocol functions and ceremonies.
Jose Sibaja (Costa Rica) on trumpet has held positions in the Miami Symphony as well as several national symphonies in South America. He is active in South Florida's Latin music scene and has crossed the world many times with Ricky Martin's band.
Andrew Hitz (Washington, D.C.) on tuba has performed with the National Repertory Orchestra, the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the New World Symphony and at the National Orchestral Institute. He has served as faculty for the International Brass Festival in Texcoco, Mexico and at the Brass Seminar at the Banff Center (Alberta, Canada).
