2014 PowellsWood Storytelling Festival
July 18th & 19th 2014

PowellsWood: A Northwest Garden plays host to this annual 2-day festival of the art of storytelling.

The first day, internationally-renowned storytellers play host to registered guests with workshops designed to turn everyday people into tellers of their own stories. Full-pass participants even get a chance at "Tea With the Tellers" on PowellsWood's fabled Garden Room Terrace.

The second day, it's all telling, all the time, with special secret spots in the 3-acre garden set up with tents featuring storytelling tracks for adults, families, and children.

OUR TELLERS

Donald Davis. Donald returns to PowellsWood with more heartwarming stories of growing up in North Carolina, along with tales from his many travels. You can see Donald at work on our website.

Diane Ferlatte. Diane's focus is on schools and libraries, because she believes this is where the tradition of storytelling is to be nurtured... and where the lessons of the stories most need to be heard.

Angela Lloyd. Angela's performances are among the most unique on the national storytelling circuita whimsical braid of poetry, story and song played on Autoharp, Tenor Guitar, Spoon and Bell.

Barbara McBride-Smith. Entertainer, historian, preacher, and storyteller all rolled into one, Texas-born cheerleader Barbara McBride-Smith serves up sweet truth with a side of southern grit.

Ed Stivender. Accompanying himself on banjo and harmonica, Ed tells stories from cultures around the world. Themes of Harmony, Temperance and Fairness weave themselves throughout Ed's tales.
