This December 13th, come join Amy Obenski and her community of friends and fans for her CD Release Party. She'll be performing all the songs from the album and will be joined by her band consisting of Ted Framhein on bass and Paul Stevens on drums. Special guests include Daniel Brown on cello on Kathy Uccello on mandolin. The actual release is December 9th when you'll be able to purchase it online at CD Baby, Amazon, iTunes and from Streetlight Records in Santa Cruz.

"From the Deep" is an intriguing album title to say the least. And the music matches the name in style, lyrical themes and arrangements with a lush, organic and honest sound that is richer than previous albums.

"Choosing the name was easy," says Obenski. "Much of this album hasn't even been heard by my closest friends. I chose to keep the music and the recording to myself this time in order to have the freedom to create from a deeper place within. I'm very happy with the result and can't wait to finally share it with others."

Obenski landed a song placement on the T.V. show, Grey's Anatomy, in 2007. That exposure led to her song, "Carousel", rising to #23 on the iTunes folk chart. While previously considered a kind of folk-rock, Obenski's new album leans toward alternative rock with jazz, pop and classical influences. She performs mostly throughout the Bay Area with various shows spanning across the West Coast.

Based in Santa Cruz, the songstress has been active in the environmental movement. In 2007 she started the benefit concert series, Take Back Your Forest, which raises money for the Semperviren's Fund, an organization that purchases threatened redwood forest in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
