| Description |
As part of the Collective's commitment to incubate new work by Austin's finest talents, DA! is both proud and excited to showcase the inspirational and visionary work of Lisa del Rosario.
The stories within Relative Space are inspired by the unique interior architecture of Hyde Park Theatre. Relative Space will challenge your preconceptions of time, space, and human interaction through exploring the creativity by which we relate. Using pedestrian, rhythmic, and acrobatic vignettes, the Collective will slowly transform the space into a sculpted world.
Ms. del Rosario has danced and choreographed throughout the world, from New York and Mexico to a residency in the Philippines with The Philippine National Folk Dance Company, Bayanihan. Lisa's diverse body of work here in Austin includes the critically acclaimed Dance With A Glass of Water (Austin Critics Table Nominee for Best Performance of a Dance), Heron & Crane, Neither Going Up the Hill Nor Down, This Vivid Life, Up and Front, Shish Ka Bob, We Are Normal Cha Cha Chaaa, But I Could Do That, Inside A Broken Clock: A Tom Waits Peepshow, Shining Star, and A Thumping, Raging Explosion of Light and Marvelous Texture.
Relative Space features Jude Hickey (Best Actor, Critics' Table Award for The Pillowman, Hyde Park Theatre), 3-time B. Iden Payne nominee Kirk German, Heather Huggins (You're No One's Nothing Special), Stephanie Denson (On the Town), Michelle Brandt (Heron and Crane), Scott Roskilly (Direct Object), and Lisa del Rosario herself. Joining the Collective are a group of four live musicians, led by Austin's own Travis Cooper (musical director, DA!'s Heron and Crane and Direct Object).
