Community Partners in Action, the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center and Mark Twain House & Museum welcome PIPER KERMAN, activist and author of "Orange is the New Black: My Year in a Women's Prison" for an author talk and book signing on Thursday, December 12 at 7 PM at Hartford Stage (NOTE CHANGE OF VENUE). After spending a year in Danbury's federal correctional facility for women, Piper Kerman compiled her prison experiences into the memoir, Orange is the New Black: My Year in a Woman's Prison. Now a wildly popular Netflix television series, Orange is the New Black has become a flashpoint for discussion on our national prison culture and the challenges facing women caught up in America's penal system.
