Description
ITS GUIGNOL'S 200TH BIRTHDAY! AND WERE CELEBRATING WITH BLOOD, CAKE & ABSINTHE!
2008 marks the 200th birthday of the beloved French puppet, Guignol, and the Grand Guignolers are celebrating their namesake. Andre de Lorde's Grand Guignolers de Paris bring to Los Angeles a taste of the greatest horror show on earth Le Theatre du Grand Guignol, joined by Guignol and his devilish cousin, Punch. With feet planted in the famed horror tradition, we present a childrens show with folk tales so true to their horrifically bloody forms that they are unsuitable for children. Our Little Red Riding Hood: A Horror Play and Hansel and Gretel: A Horror Play are original adaptations drawn from various early sources, some far predating the Grimms. In that the Grand Guignol was dubbed the Theatre of Laughter and Terror for alternating horror and comedy, our evenings horror plays sandwich   The Ugly Duckling: A Melodrama Ballet and our ever popular, Petits Guignolers, feisty French finger puppets in Rapunzel: An Erotic Romp.

The show features blood, puppets, melodrama, masks, and dance. The circa 1930 birthday party atmosphere will offer an absinthe demonstration en francais about 1/2 hour prior to showtime as well as birthday cake, popcorn, and grown-up drinks.
