FALL 08 (Chopin) IL ESL Endorsement CORE BLOCK (Chopin and Naperville locations)
Use this site to register for the CHOPIN SCHOOL Location or the NAPERVILLE location for the ESL/Bilingual CORE BLOCK classes.
THOSE WHO REGISTER LATE ARE REQUIRED TO MAKE UP MISSED CLASS TIME AT THE DIRECTION OF THE INSTRUCTOR.
This series of workshops runs every Tuesday and Thursday from October 21st through February 2009 (4pm-7:30pm). At the end of this series, certified Illinois teachers will have met the requirements to earn nine (9) graduate credit hours toward the 18 hours required for both the Illinois ESL and Bilingual endorsements. Two payment plans are available:
1 payment - $1350
2 payments - $700 at registration; Balance of $650 due by November 6th
CREDIT
Upon successful completion of a block, 9 graduate credit hours is available from Chapman University for $450, paid directly to Chapman at that time. Core Block credits include:
1. Assessment of Bilingual Students (ED/D 9394) - $150
2. Cross Cultural Studies for Teaching (ED/D 9390) - $150
3. Methods/Materials for Teaching ESL (ED/D 9391) - $150
Chapman University, located in Orange, CA, is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
ELIGIBLE PARTICIPANTS
1. Those holding an Initial, Standard, or Master Illinois Teaching Certificate.
2. Those holding a teaching certificate from another state which permits them to teach full time in public school classrooms without restriction
3. Those without a teaching certificate who hold a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
APPLICABILITY All credits earned from Chapman for the above-named courses are accepted by the Illinois State Board of Education toward the Illinois ESL and Bilingual endorsement requirements, effective September 12, 2008. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
An additional 10 hours per month of online and face-to-face group projects and activities augment workshop activities. These permit practical application and fulfillment of Chapman and ISBE requirements.
PAYMENTS
Payments of $1350 are made to ASPD for the workshop classes. Upon successful completion of the workshop classes, $450 is paid to Chapman University for 9 graduate credit hours of credit. This is well below the costs of colleges and universities! Some employers may have funds to pay for costs of workshops.

Registration is not final until your check has cleared. In the event a check is returned for any reason, registration is canceled until another form of payment is received. To cover additional processing costs we will incur, it will be necessary for ASPD to charge a $39 NSF fee to you for checks returned for any reason.
District Purchase Order payments are generally NOT accepted, however, ASPD will accept purchase orders IF payment will be received in full prior to the start of the first session. Requests to accept purchase orders are handled ONLY in writing by emailing help@aspdgroup.com
FINANCIAL AID is not available through ASPD. Teachers may be able to obtain loans through the district's credit union.

Refunds may take 6-8 weeks to process and will be mailed to the address provided at the time of registration.
