The Evergreen Playhouse presents: The Tempest by William Shakespeare

Set on a small island in the Mediterranian Sea, "The Tempest" tells the tale of Prospera, the ousted Dutchess of Milan. Marooned there with her young daughter Miranda twelve years ago in a military coup, she has been gathering strength, allies, and knowledge, preparing for the day when she can strike back against her brother Antonio and Alonsa the Queen of Naples, who were responsible for her plight. Her opportunity arrives when Alonsa and her son Ferdinand, as well as Antonio and other Italian nobles, are passing close enough to the island to come under her power. With the help of her magical servant Ariel, Prospera raises a mighty tempest to maroon her foes and proceeds to use her magical powers to toy with their senses and sway their loyalties. Things are complicated when Caliban, a twisted native of the island that Prospera has enslaved to her, plots with other marooned passengers of the Queens ship to overthrow Prospera and win his freedom. Only with all her wits and power can Prospera come through this test and give her daughter Miranda the life of freedom that she wants for her, and ensure justice will prevail.
