PARADE book by Alfred Uhry, with music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown presented by R-S Theatrics
R-S Theatrics presents Tony Award Winning "Parade", opening Friday, September 6, 2013, at 8:00 p.m. at the Ivory Theatre. "Parade" was co-conceived and directed on Broadway by Harold Prince, features book by Alfred Uhry, with music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown. Directed by R-S Artistic Director Christina Rios, the show features Pete Winfrey as Leo Frank and St. Louis Critics Choice Award-winning Actress Jennifer Theby-Quinn as his wife Lucille, whose lives were caught up in one of the most shameful events in American history. Performances are Fridays Saturdays at 8 pm, Sundays at 7pm and continue through September 15.
In 1913, Leo M. Frank was falsely accused of the rape and murder of 13-year-old Mary Phagan. Frank was a Jewish New Yorker living in small-town Georgia less than 50 years after the end of the Civil War. Politicians used him as a pawn, yellow journalism distorted his image, and his outsider-status lead him to become the focus of racist fear and hate. In the end, the people of Georgia enforced their will upon him.
Directed by Christina Rios with musical direction by Leah Luciano.
