The Art of Hosting is a response to a world that is becoming increasingly complex and fragmented, where true solutions and innovation lie not in one leader or one viewpoint, but instead arise from our collective intelligence. An emerging set of tools and world-wide learning community through the Art of Hosting offer new ways of hosting and designing meetings and conversations that access the wisdom of a group in more powerful ways.

The Art of Hosting is a practice ground for all who aspire to bring out the best in others. It is based on the assumption and experience that human beings have enormous untapped wealth and resilience and that the sustainable solutions lie in the wisdom between us.[1]  The Art of Hosting can help us all lead change through dialogue, learning and action.

We are convening Boston area funders, practitioners, consultants, evaluators, and community members to experience several Art of Hosting practices. Specifically, participants will have an opportunity to learn about and experience five tools: Open Space, Pro Action Café, World Café, Revealed Presence Cards, and Harvesting. You will leave with practical tools and techniques that you can use in your work, as well as insights about collective leadership that emerge from the conversations.

Please join us in this gathering of the Boston Leadership Learning Circle as we explore how Art of Hosting practices can engage stakeholders and convene people in order to create new collective intelligence, take wise actions and create sustainable solutions.

Our catalyst for the event is Madeline Snow, who works in the Lowell Center for Sustainable Production at UMass Lowell, helping public sector entities improve their sustainability and energy management

Beth Tener, Principal of New Directions Collaborative, and Maya Townsend of Partnering Resources will help facilitate this gathering.   Madeline and Beth are part of the Collective Leadership Network.
