Chick Flick and PianoFight's ForePlays (SF Improv Festival 2013)
Two Amazing Troupes open the 2013 San Francisco Improv Festival.
Chick Flick, founded by Mia and Mary in collaboration with Jennifer and Karen, is an all-woman troupe that plays outside of the macho comedy improv sphere. They love to have guest performers who bring fresh energy and new perspectives to expand the improv world. They specialize in long-form formats incorporating elements such as tableau, montage, French braid, monologues, and their original format "Eternal Sunshine," with emphasis on the development and deepening of connections between their characters. They will be performing a tableau inspired narrative where nothing is certain except this - they're suckers for a happy ending!
ForePlays is composed of a group of ladies who found each other in 2009 after being cast as the faceless, ubiquitous "CAROL" character one too many times. Since then, they've given "CAROL" a face "for plays" in over fifteen original sketch comedy productions and more than 50 performances in the Bay Area. Multiple perspectives, all college-educated, two Jewish, and only one pregnant (at press time) combine for a unique blend of smart, edgy, unexpected humor. Making it all happen are Nicole Hammersla, Kate Jones, Jessica Mele, Rachel Rockwood, Meredith Terry, Emma Shelton, and Sarah Wright.
