Candide, or Optimism (Part 1) - SF Fringe Festival
Custom Stage @ Off-Market San Francisco, CA
In this best of all possible countries, in this best of all possible worlds, lived a young man called Candide who was sure everything that happened was for the best. Sadly for our hero, the rest of the world had a slightly different outlook.
Follow our young Optimist as he wanders from a state that seems a lot like California, to a war zone that seems a bit like Iraq, to a strange place called El Dorado, only its a bit more chilly than you would think and part of it is floating away!
This fast-paced, scatological, ensemble-based modernization proves that Voltaire's sarcastic, bitterly dark, hysterically funny novella is more than timeless; it is, in fact, about our very here and now!
