Secret Stash Records is an independent record label owned and operated in Minneapolis, MN. They are dedicated to one thing, releasing great music in great collectible LP packages. Whether you are a DJ looking for rare grooves to sample, or just an average Joe looking for great music, Secret Stash has you covered.
Dérobé Dance Band plays West African style music of the 1970s. The Secret Stash Records staff started the band while curating the label's ongoing series of Ghanaian and Nigerian album reissues. During the reissue process they have spent hundreds of hours listening to and researching Afrobeat, Afro funk, and Highlife. They called on a host of local Latin, Jazz, and R&B musicians to assemble their own West African dance band inspired by the works of K Frimpong, Peter King, Dr. K. Gyasi, Ebo Taylor, Fela Kuti, and many others, The Dérobé Dance Band delivers a heavy danceable mix of funk, rock, and African rhythms.
Black Market Brass is a 9 piece Afrobeat/Funk orchestra that performs both original music inspired by of Fela Kuti, Tony Allen, Ebo Taylor, K. Frimpong and others, and new versions of the compositions that brought those influential artists to the attention of the world at large. The result: an eclectic blend of cool deep funk and driving Afrobeat grooves.
