Khaley Adouna African Drum & Dance in collaboration with Sing Sing Rhythms presents a Celebration of Culture: Senegal!
Featuring SIMB: the story of the false lion!
This dance and drum performance will give audiences the opportunity to view a day in the life of Senegal. You will witness the activities and gatherings of the Senegalese people in West Africa.
The featured piece, "SIMB: the story of the false lion." is a dance and drum performance piece born out of a legend about a man who battles and defeats a lion only to take on its characteristics. The emphasis will be to highlight the role of men in this dance tradition. The vibrancy of the costuming as well as the intricacy of the dance and drumming makes this a cultural experience of Senegal not seen; very popular in Europe, this will be the US debut!
