What says "family time" more than summer, and what says "summer" more than family time. Come explore the meaning of family with our local poets, dancers and musicians.
Poetry+Motion is the live presentation of poetry, written and read by local poets and translated into movement by local dancers.
Local poets submit their work to Poetry+Motion: Family. After the poetry submission deadline, dancers who are chosen by audition and are selected to participate each receive a PDF file containing all the submitted poems, but without the name of the poet. Each dancer selects up to four poems that inspire them and creates a dance to go with that poem.
Poets: Alex Damov, Esther Alley, Georgia McDade, Karen Entrantt, Margaret Barrie, Minnie Collins, and Raul Sanchez.
Dancers: Danny Long, Erricka Turner Davis, Giavonna White, Pamela Beatty.
Vocalist Nikki DeCaires will select related songs to perform between groups of poems.
