VisionFest 08 is Filmmakers Alliance's annual Vision Award Presentation, Screening and Gala party held at the Directors Guild of America Theater Complex on August 20th, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.. It is Filmmakers Alliances' yearly celebration that brings together best of L.A.'s independent filmmaking community.

Filmmakers Alliance will again bestow its coveted VISION AWARD. Past Vision Award recipients include include Mike Figgis, Terry Gilliam, Wim Wenders, Allison Anders, Alexander Payne, David O. Russell and Werner Herzog.

This year's Vision Award recipient is filmmaker KEVIN SMITH.

We will also be presenting the inaugural NILSSON AWARD to the award's namesake, filmmaker ROB NILSSON. Finally, our COMMUNITY VISION AWARD will be presented to LA FILM FORUM for its amazing contribution to independent film and the art of cinema.

The presentation is followed by the introduction of the Los Angeles Short Filmmaking Competition winner which is, in turn, followed by a program of the best short films produced through Filmmakers Alliance in the previous year.

"Putting A Cigarette Out With Your Feet" by Carlo Pangalangan

"A Nice Day For An Earthquake" by Antony Berrios

"Removal" by Donal Foreman

"Dada" by Brad Jones

"Conflicted" by Beth Dewey

"Melancholy Baby" by Sean Hood

The evening finishes with an elegant but high-energy party in the DGA lobby catered by some of Los Angeles' best restaurants.

Parking Instructions: Parking is first-come, first-serve under the DGA building (enter on Hayworth) with free overflow at the Sunset 5 on Crescent Heights and Sunset. The DGA will validate your parking at the security desk in the center of the DGA lobby.
