The Beaverton Live
Since its launch in 2010, the Beaverton has grown into Canada's sharpest and funniest satirical news source. With thousands of regular readers and shout outs from leading Canadian politicians and commentators, it has become the number one place to find laughs about our great country. It is also the only satirical news publication available both online and in print.

To that end, the Beaverton is putting on a live comedy show and launch party to celebrate the release of our newest print edition. We'll be hosting some of Canada's best sketch and stand up comedians, along with some very special guests. And our writers are hard at work preparing some special Beaverton News Live features that can only be seen at this show! We'll even be giving away Beaverton swag as prizes to audience members throughout the show!

For any fan of ours, or for any fan of live comedy, or for any fan of being a fan of things, this show can't be missed!

The show will take place at theLot Comedy Club in Toronto. The Lot is located at 100 Ossington Avenue, in between Dundas and Queen. Tickets are $10. Start time is 10 p.m. And our amazing line-up is as follows:

Jordan Sowunmi

Jordan Sowunmi is a comedian and writer based in Toronto. He hosts and produces the quarterly "Sowunmi and Friends" showcase at the Rivoli, as well as the popular weekly show, "Dad Jokes" at Bambi's. His writing has been published by the Wa Magazine, VICE, and the Toronto Standard.

Vanessa Purdy

Vanessa Purdy is a human female, recovering infant, and definitely not an alien. She daylights as a moonshiner and moonlights as a daydreamer. Writing about herself is not her forte.

Monty Scott

For the past eight years Monty Scott has been leaving audiences in stitches all over Canada. You may have heard him on XM Satellite Radio or you may have seen him on The Oprah Winfrey Network, The Comedy Network or Bite TV and i chanel. Born and raised in Scarborough Ont. He manages to combine an urban practicality with an intellectual and often silly bent. Always smart and original, he will have you gasping for air as he gives you his take on a huge variety of subjects

Benjamin Iscoe

Raised in the slums of south-central North York, Ben Iscoe was forced to live in an environment with parents who stayed together, a garage that could only fit two cars and a cable package that stopped at channel 71  all this while attending private school. This oppressed lifestyle naturally paved the way for Ben to rant about his upper/middle class upbringing as he struggled through the mean streets of six-figure suburbia. Word!

Kiss the Dog

Kiss The Dog is about two things: Pride and Shame. Think dad humour from the perspective of everyone else, but your dad. This two time award winning sketch troupe produces monthly shows at the Comedy Bar. The group consists of 10 guys who all met at the Humber Comedy: Writing and Performance program back in 2010 and have been making audiences around the city laugh ever since. Fresh off their small town summer tour of '12 to raise funds to all collectively go to Niagara Falls together (It was very counter-productive), their sketches cover anything from satirical social commentary to bizarre and hilarious fantasy worlds. Let them give you a show that's going to make you laugh out loud and reflect on how all too often, these events are closer to reality than you think they are. Either way, you'll be hooked and intrigued! One of them has actually kissed a dog  Try and guess which one!

Todd Graham

Todd Graham is still working on his autobiography and is uncomfortably about anyone seeing it until after he is dead. For now: Please enjoy Todd Graham responsibly.

The Beaverton News Network Live!

Bringing the Beaverton's deadpan sensibilities and hilarious satire to the live news format, this performance will take everything you love about the evening news, and mock it mercilessly!

Hosted by Luke Gordon Field!
In addition to his role as the Beaverton head writer, Luke is an accomplished stand up who has toured all over Canada and the U.S. (assuming by U.S. you mean upstate New York exclusively). He was named by the Tim Sims foundation as one of the best new comics in Toronto in 2011 and will be showcasing as part of the NXNE comedy festival this spring. He has three names.

Plus surprise drop in guests so special we can't list their names here, for fear the internet would explode.

See you there!
