In the Belly of the Whale
EXIT on Taylor San Francisco, CA
A spoken word poet mysteriously finds himself in the belly of a whale. There, he encounters eight characters, all with very different relationships to being Jewish. Ages 14 to 81, they include an atheist social activist, a rabbi, a teenage girl, a gay professor of Jewish studies, and a Holocaust survivor and his grandson. The show is based entirely on real people, taken verbatim from eight interviews, as well as from the performer's life. With dance and spoken word. Whale will take you on an unforgettable journey into the nature of identity, how we have become who we are, and who we choose to be in the future.
