Chicago Repertory Ballet Summer performance - The Rite of Spring
Chicago Repertory Ballet will present an original and captivating evening of concert dance works, including their first one-act ballet 'The Rite of Spring'.
Act one will include a mixed bill of contemporary works by a spit-fire roster of gifted choreographers. Jacqueline Stewart will produce a new re-structuring of her work 'One Way' based on runway fashion and dance. Jessica Miller Tomlinson will contribute her remarkable work Architecture: Splintered and Cracked, a dance rich in texture and contemporary movement. New York choreographer Manuel Vignoulle brings his beautifully sensitive duet 'In a Box' to the program, and rounding out the act is Chicago choreographer Monique Haley, with a world premiere piece for CRB.
The second act of the show features Founder and Artistic Director Wade Schaaf's re-envisioning of Igor Stravinsky's pivotal score 'The Rite of Spring'. This gritty and contemporary look at the original scenario promises to entertain.
