| Description |
An enchanting evening of music, dance, and visual art celebrating the rich cultural traditions of Iraq & Iran, Korea and N. Korea, the Sudan, and Cuba -- countries that have been labeled as "evil" or "terrorist" by our government. Proceeds to benefit MoveOn.org and allied efforts to promote participatory democracy and peaceful civil society.
The evening's program includes all-female a capella ensemble singing from the Sudan, 5000 year-old traditional dances presented by the Morning Star Korean Cultural Center, Afro-Cuban music and dance presented by Bembe Olele , and Tarub, a very special trio of Iraqi and Palestinian musicians assembled especially for this event, playing folk music of Iraq and Syria.
The evening will be hosted by Sufi scholar and interfaith minister Jamal Rahman with special invited guest Fran Korten -- Executive Director of the Positive Futures Network (pulishers of Yes! Magazine).
Sponsored by Newground Social Investment and Mossbak Creative.
