7 PM McCurdy Pavilion at Fort Worden State Park. The Flying Karamazov Brothers will host a family-friendly, all the bell and whistles, madcap evening of music, juggling, magic, acrobatics, clowning, aerial acts and comedy. The show will feature legendary folksinger Faith Petric, Hacki (winner of the European Golden Nose award for clowning), lyrical aerialists Duo Madrona, the Fighting Instruments of Karma Marching Chamber Band/Orchestra plus many more of the multi-generational troupe.

The evening show will benefit the Youth Education Programs of the Northwest Maritime Center & Wooden Boat Foundation and the New Old Time Chautauqua
*** On Saturday, July 19, the New Old Time Chautauqua will present a day of community fun in Port Townsend, WA, at McCurdy Pavilion in Fort Worden State Park. This event kicks off a two-week tour by sea. A eight-boat flotilla will sail with eighty-five performers, educators, boat captains and crew, and Puget Sound Explorers (high school youth). The journey begins in Port Townsend and ends in Port Gamble-by way of Lopez, Waldron and Lummi Islands, Bellingham and Langley, WA. The Aqua Chautauqua Shows will benefit several local non profit organizations and programs; the NW Maritime Center/Wooden Boat Foundation Youth Education Program, Waldron community projects, arts and music in the schools, Bellingham Parks and Recreation, South Whidbey Commons, Island Coffeehouse and Books (volunteer youth-run), South Whidbey Tilth and the Great Peninsula Future Festival.
1-4 PM FREE Educational Circus. The McCurdy Pavilion lawn will come alive with a a puppet show, circus skills funshops and nautical workshops. You can learn to juggle, hula-hoop, perform acrobatics, play samba rhythms, clown or mystify friends with a magic trick. Bring musical instruments for an old-fashioned Song Swap with the Fort Knox of Folk Music, Faith Petric. Other activities include mask-making, trash fashions made from recycled materials, quilting (blankees for local at-risk infants). Maritime workshops include knot-tying, sea chanteys, nautical storytelling, Salish Sea historical lecture and how to use GPS.
4:30-6 PM FREE Community Picnic. A great opportunity to lay out a blanket and picnic with old and new friends . Meet and chat with Chautauqua performers and educators in a relaxed atmosphere and enjoy the talents of local musicians. Bring a picnic--no food will be sold.
