General Douglas Gallegher receives a letter from a mysterious woman named Rowena Sinclair informing him his brother has died. Upon visiting her, he learns this is not true, as Rowena is in fact his brother. Gallegher must confront the truth of his buried past, deal with the reactions of his wife and two teenaged boys and come to terms with the responsibility of what he must now face with this very real and important human rights issue. He must somehow find acceptance in his heart, or lose everything he holds dear to his heart.
