Mother Courage and her Children, by Bertolt Brecht
Considered by many to be one of the greatest dramatic creations of the modern stage, "Mother Courage and Her Children" is Bertolt Brecht's most passionate and profound statement against war. The epic drama follows Mother Courage as she attempts to achieve her goals of making a profit and keeping her children alive through the blood and destruction of the Thirty Years War.
Time Out declares that David Hare's timely translation "bristles with gutsy cynicism and is funny in the right, black comic way." Presenting Seattle actress Betty Campbell in the title role and featuring new music by Andy Clawson performed live, Edge Theatre Ensemble brings to life what Lillian Hellman called one of the truly "great plays of our time."
Saturday, July 5th, is our Opening Night. For just a buck extra, Opening Night features live pre-show music performed by "Bertolt Brecht" starting at 7:30 PM, soldiers' rations (wine and bread) at intermission, and a zine of current events and commentary to take home. Please join us to launch this timely and relevant show!
Note for parents: This show contains occasional strong language, images of war, bawdy comedy, and adult themes.
