PRESERVING THE SEASONS: An Introduction to Chutney
Have you always wanted to can, but you were concerned by the sheer complexity and the amount of sugar needed?
Chutney may be ideal for you. Join local preserver, Susan Kralovec, in a hands-on workshop on the art of making chutneys. In this three hour class, we'll cover all the basics of preserving, highlighting the essentials for safe canning, including the use of heat, sugar and acidifying agents. We'll learn how to make at least two varieties from local fresh fruits and citrus, as well as discuss their wide array of uses. Participants will leave with jars of their own chutney, along with the confidence and knowledge needed to preserve at home. All ingredients, equipment and recipes are provided by GrowKitchen.
