Mile High: Destination Göteborg

Forget the pressure of blind dates, forget the online interaction on impersonal dating sites, and forget the awkward set-ups with friends of friends. The Secret Social Club, a new dating concept in London, are filling our venue for a PREVIEW of pop-up Göteborg destination

No rush hour scramble to the airport, no forgetting to print your boarding pass, no shake down at security, no delays and definitely no scratch cards.

Inspired by the golden age of air travel, when getting there was half the fun, Mile High takes the best bits of a weekend away - the food, the drink and the unexpected - and serves them up in style in a pop-up London venue.

From Harris tweed lounge suits to scarlet red lipstick, Mile High captures the swagger and sophistication of 1950s aviation, when leg room meant doing the twist and turbulence was a byproduct of the bar steward's cocktail shaker.

No need to dress up though, we've done that for you.

Ex-Moro Chef Oliver Templeton and his team will be cooking up a feast of Scandinavian delights with a British twist.

Pan fried scallops with puréed potato, charred spring onions and crispy garlic

Crayfish, brown shrimp, smoked bacon, soured cream, dark rye and tarragon

Char-grilled elk with golden beetroot, mushrooms, dill and cucumber salad

Lingonberry ice cream with carrot cake crumble and licorice meringue

Mile High diners will find all the ingredients they're looking for in the immersive 'city break'; the style, the exclusivity and the escapism. A weekend away, a cab ride away

Tickets are £55

Included in the price are two classic cocktails, departure lounge snacks, a four-course meal prepared by ex-Moro chef Oliver Templeton and his team, wine with supper and music from Mile High's airborne DJ division. You may also be lucky enough to have a drink with the captain.

Far be it from us to sound the death knell for the East london pop-up movement, but there's a creative and culinary void back in the Wild West that's waiting to be filled.

The time is right and so is the neighbourhood. Amid the artisan bakeries and cup cake shops of West London, Mile High offers something new and exciting on the doorstep of an adventurous crowd.
