The Fever with Derek Van Barham
The Fever is performed by a single actor in your house, apartment, or venue of choice for you and whoever you choose to invite!  You can book it as part of a dinner party, a special night for you and your friends, or just for yourself if you're tired of watching television!  To book a private performance of the play, simply choose your preferred date and time above.  The cost is $45 for the show and you can invite up to 8 people to view it with you.  If you want to invite more, $5 will be added to the price for each additional person.  You can pay that additional cost using the option above or it can be collected at the time of the performance (cash only).  After you purchase your booking, you will receive an email from us within 48 hours to confirm the time and let you know any additional necessary information about the show.  For an added cost you can also have wine with your show or have our talkback specialist, Harrison George, attend the show and lead a discussion with you after the performance.

If you would like to book for a date or time not listed, you can email us at chloe@theislandtheatreco.org and we will be happy to schedule something with you directly.  Additionally, if you would like to book us to perform for your classroom, conference, place of business, or large event please contact us directly by email for details.

Two unique performers, Quinten Quintero and Derek Van Barham, have cultivated their own highly personal interpretations of the script by Wallace Shawn and designed an experience tailored for your living room.  As the tale of this seductive, haunting monologue unfolds, the familiar comfort of your home will be transformed before your eyes, colored by the poetry and immediacy of this sharply written play.  While visiting a poverty-stricken country far from home, the unnamed narrator of The Fever is forced to witness the political persecution occurring just beyond a hotel window. In examining a life of comfort and relative privilege, the narrator reveals, "I always say to my friends, We should be glad to be alive. We should celebrate life. We should understand that life is wonderful." But how does one celebrate life  take pleasure in beauty, for instance  while slowly becoming aware that the poverty and oppression of other human beings are a direct consequence of one's own pleasurable life?  The Island has chosen to produce this thought-provoking piece as an in-home experience to create an intimate evening where dramatic entertainment, the exchange of ideas, and the spirit of questioning can be shared more personally between audience and artist.

***This event is for booking Derek Van Barham ONLY. If you would like to book Quinten Quintero, please see his individualized event. Each actor has a custom performance schedule.
