The Independent Marketplace "Valentine Grand Finale!"

Show the love on February 7th from 4-9 PM. February's Independent Marketplace will be the very last one as we know it! Build-out begins for the permanent Marketplace. (stay-tuned)
For your pleasure, we have brought together the risqué, the frisqué, and the vanilla. As you can imagine, we're going out with a bang!

$5 tickets at the door or online through http://independentmarketplace.brownpapertickets.com. Your ticket, a green penny, may be redeemed for special "green penny" deals and discounts with participating vendors.
Students & Military $3 with ID. Kids under 16 free. $-5pm is free 'early bird' entry for shopping.

Featuring only independent collectors and makers, The Independent Marketplace puts a uniquely local flavor on the holiday of love. February's Independent Marketplace is bringing together proven Marketplace All-stars including Companion Bakeshop, Farmhouse Culture, Verve Coffee, Ashby Confections, Penny Ice Creamery, Happy Girl Kitchen and Carmel Valley Ranch.
Feast your eyes on our benefit partners, Big Sur Fire Brigade and Mid Coast Fire Brigade. They will be on hand to make sure the flames don't get out of control. Did we mention flames? Why, yes we did. Celsius Maximus and his team will be out on the plaza lighting up the night sky with live fire performances. Feeling a bit flushed? That may be caused by One Billion Rising staging their practice dance session in prep for the February 14 international flash mob against domestic violence. That's right, we have a flash mob.
The Kid's Corner will be glowing with excitement. Join a family fun multi-mat Twister Contest with tongue-tantalizing prizes courtesy of Penny Ice Creamery for the winners. Entertainment is being curated by Monterey's Burning Man group- including a huge furry heart, and The Space Pallette will amaze those who use this 'instrument' to create simultaneous music and visuals. Animal Friends Rescue Group hope's you take home a puppy! All to live Harp Music- the kiddos are assured a treat!
Grown up's too- Thai Massage will be offered in the Burning Man 'Camp' by Evolution Yoga and the Ladies of Planet Love Funk offer their botanically infused 'Love Oil'. Capture the magic moment in their Polaroid Photo Booth of Love! Brazilian Waxing + Oya Salon will be grooming you to look your best- learn more about body waxing and get a bang-bang trim! Ouchy-wa-wa!
The Marketplace's usual "Farm-to-Table" produce and "Truck-to-Belly" prepared foods won't be beat. Uncie Ro's Pizza will be cooking pies to make you drool, Mundaka will be serving up something a bit spicier, and Happy Girl Kitchen is always a crowd pleaser. Carmel Valley Ranch always draws an ace, and newly opened La Balena from Carmel is our debutante!
Join us, it's you're last chance, because the very next day construction will begin at The Independent to build out the permanent Marketplace. We expect that it will become the artisan food epicenter & social hub of the area! Take an apartment tour and 'get a room' upstairs?
The build out is surging forward thanks to the outpouring of support from the Central Coast food & arts community! We mean you!!!

Verve Coffee
Winner of a Good Food Award, Verve Coffee Roasters is invested in making each cup an authentic, quality experience. Place plays a pivotal role in what they make: considering the fields from which they source the beans, the surrounding metropolis that embrace the coffee culture, and the loyal fans that buy a cup as a part of their daily rituals. Everything Verve Coffee Roasters dosourcing, roasting, brewing, educatingis about bringing you that place in a cup.
They work a 1965 German-made Probat UG 15 roaster at their Seabright roastery in Santa Cruz. They keep the roasting close to the café to monitor how the coffees perform for their baristas, who help hone taste profiles and calibrate brewing parameters.

Manresa Bakery
Manresa is the showcase for the inventive cuisine of Chef-Proprietor David Kinch. Chef Kinch and the Manresa team find inspiration from European traditions and refinement, American ingenuity and the vast bounty that California has to offer. They Manresa Bakery will make its debut at The Independent Marketplace.

We're lucky to be at such a great crossroadsfresh seafood from the Monterey Coast, a thriving community of food artisans, and produce that's literally picked within walking distance of our kitchen. Chef Wood's focus is squarely on local, sustainable ingredients and true farm-to-table cooking. Those familiar with Chef Wood won't be surprised by his emphasis on family-style service, his sophistication, his sense of adventure, and most importantly, his wit. In other words, you'll find that eating food prepared by Carmel Valley Ranch is just as fun as everything else. If you want, you can even order dessert first.
