Chocolate Through Time, with Joyce White
Food historian and writer Joyce White explores the rich cultural history of chocolate from its ancient beginnings in Mesoamerica to the present day, with particular emphasis on how it was enjoyed by early Baltimoreans like Homewood's Carroll family. The interactive presentation will be followed by a tasting of authentic historic chocolate preparationsincluding a traditional Aztec-style drink; an 18th-century-style tart and wine; 19th-century-style hot cocoa and biscuitsand the latest modern chocolate incarnations.

The Velvet Chocolatier will have a pop-up shop at the museum from noon to 4 p.m. Owner/chocolatier Ruthie Penn Carliner (who counts Oprah and Julia Louis-Dreyfus among her fans) will offer samples and have chocolates for salejust in time for Valentine's Day.
