Invasion in the Square
Zili Misik, Le Pigeon, and Hub Dub will be invading the Davis Square Theatre on February 1st, 2013.
Zili Misik has been bridging cultures, generations, and continents for 10 years. With captivating sounds that evoke the African continent, Zili retraces routes of forced exile and cultural resistance through diasporic rhythm and song. Powerful Haitian, Brazilian and West African rhythms infuse Zili's original creations and traditional folksongs. Reconnecting Haitian mizik rasin, Jamaican roots reggae, Afro-Brazilian samba, Afro-Cuban son, and African American spirituals, blues, jazz and neo soul, Zili Misik honors its influences while creating a sound that is uniquely its own.
Le Pigeon is an extremely funky organ trio consisting of Rusty Scott - hammond B3
Johnny Trama(le pigeon) - guitar, Dave Brophy - drums.
Hub Dub, a Roots/Dub Reggae outfit, is an assemblage of experienced, talented Boston area musicians playing a blend of original improvised music, and classic Dub. With a dynamic and flexible lineup of all-star musicians, coupled with "Oh my god did that just happen" special guest appearances, Hub Dub explores sonic textures with a spontaneous and joyful passion. Whether digging in to a ska anthem, or careening through outer space in a hard hitting Dub, this band brings a party atmosphere to any show.
