Farmhouse Beer & Farmstead Cheese
$60 for 18 Reasons members; $70 for the general public
Hello Beer Week! We have missed you so. Join 18 Reasons for a night of beer pairing to celebrate one of the best weeks out of the year.
In this beer-pairing workshop, Master Cicerone Nicole Erny and Kirstin Jackson, author of "It's Not You, It's Brie: A Guide to Unwrapping American Cheese Culture," will collide two fascinating worlds of flavor: farmhouse beer and farmstead cheese. Participants will taste through 5 beers and 5 cheeses to learn what defines these terms and walk away with an arsenal of experiential knowledge on how to pair the two.
Nicole is the fourth person, first woman and youngest person to acchieve the title of Master Cicerone (R). This Certification culminated from 2 days of intensive written, oral, and tasting exams which were proctored and graded by highly respected and experienced members of the beer industry. Of the 11 candidates that sat for the exam in November of 2011, Nicole was the only new Master Cicerone to emerge.
Nicole has made television, print and radio appearances, but her passion remains in connecting people with quality beer. Her beer education and beer and food pairing events are aimed at the curious, but casual consumer, but are also toothesome enough for knowledgeable beer lovers.
Kirstin is a cheese and wine writer, consultant, educator, professionally trained cook, wine bar manager and cheese program director, whose fridge and head is almost entirely consumed with cheese. She blames her parents, who took her on trips to the California dairy country at a very young age, for feeding the obsession, and dually thanks them for bringing her back pounds of Joe Matos St. George cheese when she's unable to unaccompany them on current trips.
