Bellingham, WA January 23, 2013 The second annual Northwest Washington Sustainable Agriculture Conference, organized by Washington State University Whatcom County Extension will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Rotary Building at the Northwest Washington Fairgrounds in Lynden. This daylong event will feature seminars on topics relevant to sustainable and organic producers. An opening general session will cover market trends and business management. Two parallel livestock and crop tracks will fill the remainder of the agenda and will feature seasoned farmers, researchers, and extension specialists. Topics include: plant disease identification and management, weed management, cover cropping strategies, pasture management, poultry production, composting and much more! Partial scholarships are available to Whatcom County farmers, thanks to a grant from the Community Food Coop Farm Fund.
