Inspired by the dreamlike paintings of Marc Chagall, THE VIEW FROM HERE is a remounting of Artistic Director Joanna Haigood's 2002 work. Using aerial dance, circus arts, colorful sets and music to capture the essential elements of Marc Chagall's work, THE VIEW FROM HERE creates an environment that envelops the audience in the world of Chagall's paintings, contextualizing some of his recurring themes -- love, village life, political revolution, and circus -- and interprets them through Haigood's signature aerial choreography and exploration of space and illusion. Intersecting frames of reference and the suspension of the laws of physics evoke an altered state of fantasy outside time and space. By engaging audiences' senses with intense, rich input, the traditional expectations and boundaries between audience and work of art are blurred.
