Welcoming the Stranger: Ways of Serving and Understanding
A conference organized by St. Mark's Cathedral, Mideast Focus Ministry, to discuss the background to the Syrian situation, challenges faced by refugees coming to the United States and who and what the local organizations are doing to help the refugees and how we can also participate. Keynote speakers include Drs. Tim and Kerry Dearborn who will discuss the Priority of Welcoming the Stranger in the Biblical Faith and Anne Lynn, President of the American Friends of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem. Participating organizations from Seattle who work with refugees include: The Sanctuary Hub as part of the Sanctuary movement, Refugee Resettlement Organization of the Diocese of Olympia, Muslim Housing Services, Lutheran Community Services Northwest, SCM, and the YWCA.  The program begins at 9:00 and concludes at 3:00 and includes a tasty middle eastern lunch.  For further information, contact Mary Segall at mesegall@yahoo.com.
