ECHOES FESTIVAL | GUITARRISIMO | Nirse González: Centenary Homage to Antonio Lauro
Antonio Lauro (Venezuela, 1917-1986), was a great guitarist and one of the most important composers for classical guitar of the 20th century.

To mark the the occasion of Lauro's 2017 centenary, the Venezuelan virtuoso guitarist Nirse González will perform a programme comprising works by Lauro and his compatriots Inocente Carreño and Federico Ruiz, alongside well-known pieces by Agustín Barrios and Alberto Ginastera connected to the composer.

Nirse González studied classical guitar in Venezuela and in Europe (Spain and Germany). At the tender age of fifteen, he performed the 'Concierto de Aranjuez' by Joaquín Rodrigo with Vicente Emilio Sojo Orchestra of Venezuela. He soon developed into an internationally-renowned artist. He has performed at some of the world's principal concert halls, including the Teresa Carreño Theater (Venezuela), Tonhalle in Düsseldorf (Germany), House of Culture and Theater in Benicassim-Valencia (Spain), National Auditorium in Madrid (Spain), Auditorio Nacional Mohammed V in Rabat (Morocco), Teatro Municipal de Viña del Mar (Chile), UNESCO Palace in Beirut (Lebanon), Gomhuria Theater in Cairo (Egypt), Al-Hussein or the Cultural Centre, Ras ALAin in Amman. Gonzalez is the winner of numerous major international competitions, including first Prize at the Francisco Tárrega International Guitar Competition in Benicassim (Spain) in 2006.
