THE SHAWL
Rydemption Entertainment Presents "The Shawl" by David Mamet at The Moth Theater April 25th - May 31st 2013. Thursday, Friday, Saturday 8pm - Directed by Ryan Surratt.  Starring: Lili Bordan, Ryan Surratt, and Liz Guest.

A medium with a talent for hucksterism and her ruthless lover meet with a man who wants advice about his deceased mother's will. They plot to relieve him of the entire estate, but he tricks the medium into revealing what a charlatan she is. During the shock and pain of this moment, the medium experiences a revelation so profound that it changes the course of each character's life.

"A fascinating exercise in film flam. The dialogue has a keen poisonous edge." - WNEW TV"

Displays the subtle word play with which Mr. Mamet can develop a prosaic situation." - The Christian Science Monitor

Lili Bordan - Joan

Lili began studying theater in New York under the mentorship of teacher Susan Batson and at Sarah Lawrence College, but she started her film and stage career in Budapest and Prague.  Lili continues to work in Europe, with recurring roles on BBC series such as Silent Witness and Robin Hood, and leads in features such the Danish/ Hungarian co-production Egill the Last Pagan and British/ French feature Two Days in the Smoke, both set for world-wide theatrical release next fall. US credits include films Cherry. (Warner Brothers Ent.)  A Love Affair of Sorts (Periscope Ent.), which she co-wrote, guest-spots on ER (NBC), Law and Order: SVU (NBC) The River (ABC), and the female lead in Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome (SyFy).   Lili Bordan played Marie, the French nanny in Moth Theatre's production of The Blue Room for which she won a Scenie Award for best actress in Southern California.  She's grateful tonight to be part of her second play on this wonderful stage.

Ryan Surratt - Mr. A

Ryan holds dual degrees from the University of Southern California schools of Film and Business. He began his studies in the art of acting at the age of 14 at the South Orange County School of the Arts. He serves as Artistic Director of The Rydemption Theater Company which is a subsidiary of his production company Rydemption Entertainment. Ryan's recent work was supporting Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl in "The Ugly Truth" through Sony Pictures and also playing Eddie in the remake of the film "FAME" for MGM. He is currently directing a film starring himself and John Heard entitled "Buoyancy".

Liz Guest - Charlie

She appeared at age 8 in her father's television series "USA High" as a wedding guest, dissolving in tears as she watched her father's character get married, thus stealing the already emotional scene from the seasoned acting 'grownups'.   She then started studying at a very young age at the Lee Strasberg Theatrical Institute in Los Angeles. Numerous school plays followed her five years at Strasberg.  Upright Citizens Brigade is her improv home now. She was accepted into the highly selective and prestigious B.F.A acting program at the University of Southern California, and after a year decided to switch her major to Cinema to study something she had not studied before.  She made multiple short films during this time, starring in many shorts as well as writing and directing her own.  One of her first films was a documentary about MOTH.  During her college years, she was cast in a three episode arc as David Duchovny's student on "Californication". She also starred in the short film "Nothing" directed by respected visual artist, Tracey Snelling, which was selected to screen as part of the 'Acting the Part' program in the 55th San Francisco International Film Festival in May 2012 and in festivals all over the world. During her final year at USC she wrote her second feature that recently made it into the final round for the Sundance Screenwriting Lab 2013.  Her most recent project is the feature film "Kill Her, Not Me," a thriller in which she stars (and survives) in the leading role.

The show will be followed on certain nights with a...

A screening of the the award winning Short film "Buoyancy" starring John Heard. Official Selection at the First Glance Film Festival, Beverly Hills Film Festival and Dances With Films festival.
